NFT ERC-1155 is now Live on multichain.storage!

Speaking of NFTs, many people may think of the CryptoKitties and ERC-721 tokens. ERC-721 was proposed in September 2017 by Dieter Shirley, the Technical Director of Axiom Zen, and applied to the CryptoKitties game. Every ERC-721 token is unique, with different properties. The generation of ERC-721 had a great impact on the NFT market and promoted the development of GameFi and the Metaverse, as well as the ENS domain names, the development of paintings, encrypted artworks, and other projects.

However, as time passes by, new requirements for NFTs arose. For example, in GameFi, players fancy a large number of props of the same type, and prop combinations and upgrades, which is difficult for ERC-721 to realize. And besides, the service charge for batch-minting NFTs and token transfer is quite high, and the operation is cumbersome and time-consuming. To tackle these issues, the ERC-1155 token standard was therefore proposed.

The advantages of ERC-1155

The ERC-1155 contract has added multiple Batch Interfaces, which could realize more functions. This is mostly used for virtual props in blockchain games. For example, if the player needs to mint 1,000 NFT swords, s/he could achieve that by implementing just one contract, rather than minting them one by one.

Moreover, users can also make batch transfers with ERC-1155. They can combine multiple ERC-1155 Tokens of the same type into one package, and then transfer it to others. The receiver can get the NFTs by unpacking the package. The batch transfer is easy to operate and could lower the service charge.

Usually, in the game scenario, players need to upgrade and strengthen their NFT equipment, such as upgrading swords, inlaid gems and other NFTs, which is complicated for ERC-721. However, ERC-1155 can achieve that by combining NFTs into packages and meeting more demands in different game scenarios.

Moreover than that, the ERC-1155 token standard is also required for the NFT binding of the game character equipment. There is no difference between the ERC-1155 standard and the ERC-721 standard in terms of application scenarios, however, the ERC-1155 standard enables users to mint NFTs in batches with just a single deployment of the smart contract. ECR-1155 is a finer choice for users to mint their own NFT paintings and other artworks.

ERC-1155 successfully deployed on multichain.storage

ERC-1155 is currently widely used in the blockchain industry, especially in GameFi, Metaverse, and music copyright. Supporting the ERC-1155 standard on multichain.storage had also become one of FilSwa’s plans. We are delighted to announce that, through the hard work of our technical team, NFT ERC-1155 is now LIVE on multichain.storage.

The NFTs minted by using multichain.storage are now unified into ERC-1155 standard NFTs, which will be displayed in the “SWAN NFT” collection. And for NFTs minted on the basis of the previous ERC-721 standard, you can still check them in the “MCS NFT V2” collection.

SDK users need to download the latest version (js v2.5.2 or Python v0.1.3) released on Oct 25th.

For web users, nothing needs to be operated on multichain.storage. You can now mint ERC-1155 NFTs after uploading your files.

FilSwan’s multichain.storage provides you with 10GB of free storage space per month. Polygon users do not need to spend any tokens to store their files onto the Filecoin network and can mint ERC-1155 NFTs with just a small amount of gas fee.

Try multichain.storage. Start to mint your own NFTs!
