How to Upload Files for Storage?

1. Enter multichain.storage and log in with your MetaMask wallet

Enter multichain.storage >>> log in by connecting your MetaMask wallet to Polygon Mainnet (“Connect Wallet” → “Connect”)

After logging in, if you are not connected to the Polygon Mainnet, a prompt will appear on the webpage. Please click the red “mainnet” button and select “Polygon Mainnet”. (multichain.storage will support more public chain networks in the future, please stay tuned.)

Then, click “Approve” to allow the site to add a network. 👆

Following is a signature request. Please rest assured, your signing is safe here.

2. Upload files and store your data onto the Filecoin network

After logging in, you can see an “Upload File” button on the right side of the page, click the button, then click “Upload File” on the pop-up prompt box to select the file you want to upload, and then “Submit”.

Your file will be automatically uploaded to the IPFS and Filecoin network. You can check the status of the file in the “Status” column. Depending on the operation of the Filecoin network node, it takes 6 to 12 hours for the file to be stored in multiple miner nodes onto the Filecoin network. During this period, the “Status” column will display “Processing” and you do not need to do anything.

Congratulations! Your first file has been uploaded to the Filecoin network and pinned to FilSwan’s IPFS node. After completing the above steps, the entire file storage is completed. That’s right, it’s just that simple, and it’s totally FREE!

Where to View Detailed Deal Information?

When the storage process is completed, you can view the relevant deal information of the file. Click on the file name to view the details. Some critical information such as File Name, IPFS Downloads link, Storage Price, Miner IDs (files stored by multiple miners to ensure data security), and instructions to Retrieve from the Filecoin network using Lotus, and others, are presented here.

Click “View deal logs” to view the real-time storage status updates of the deal, and the duration between each part (the time is mainly determined by the Filecoin network, and FilSwan only provides tools for deal matching).

How to Mint NFTs using multichain.storage?

Apart from the above-mentioned functions, multichain.storage also enables you to mint NFTs. After the file is uploaded, you can use the Mint function in multichain.storage to create your own NFT!

It takes a small amount of gas fee to use the Mint function, therefore you need to have some MATIC token in your MetaMask wallet.

Click the “Mint” button on the far right of the file you want to mint.👆

Name your NFT and write a description of it, and then click “Mint NFT”.

A transaction prompt box will appear then. The NFT mint fee generally does not exceed 0.05 MATIC. At present, the estimated fee displayed on the MetaMask wallet is relatively high, but don’t worry, this is not the final price. The actual gas fee is about 3% of the estimated value, and the excess gas fee will be returned to your wallet after the payment. Additionally, you can modify the gas limit by clicking the “EDIT” button. Finally, just “Confirm” the transaction and wait for the completion of the transaction.

After confirming, you can view the transaction record, and you can see that the final gas consumption is within 300,000.

Mint完成后,我们就可在OpenSea上查看到生成的NFT啦!您可以将NFT挂在OpenSea上标价出售。快来使用multichain.storage,马上开启您的NFT艺术创作之旅吧!

The mint of the NFT on OpenSea is now completed! You can list your NFTs for sale on OpenSea. Come use multichain.storage and start your NFT art creation journey now!

How to Pay for Storage When Running Out of Free Storage Space?

This screenshot is a demo on Mumbai Testnets, the operation on the Polygon Mainnet is exactly the same

If you need more storage space after using up the free 10GB this month, you will need to pay for additional storage (you still have 10GB of free storage for the next month). Currently, we support using USDC to pay storage fees. Here, click “Confirm” to authorize the MetaMask wallet to access your USDC.

The authorization of USDC by multichain.storage is secure. According to the storage cost requirements, you can authorize as many USDC as you want, and excessive authorization or unlimited authorization is not allowed in multichain.storage. This ensures the security of the user’s wallet assets. And after the authorization, you can pay for the additional storage.

How about it?! Are these steps easy and fun? Don’t hesitate, just get started!
